LARRY M. BROGAN's Obituary
Larry Martin Brogan, age 62, of L’Anse passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Marquette General Hospital. He was born in L’Anse, MI on February 27, 1952, the son of the late Joseph and Betty (Hill) Brogan. Larry graduated from L’Anse High School with the class of 1970. He then attended Green’s Barber College in Detroit. Larry worked as a barber in Houghton, L’Anse, and Baraga for many years. He was married to Gwen Anderson for 23 years, which was followed by a special friendship. Larry was a member of Chassell Sportsmen’s Club. He always helped out friends and family in need. Larry had a tender heart for animals. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, and fishing; a love that was passed down to him from his father, Joseph Brogan. Larry loved sports, especially the Detroit Tigers, cars, traveling, and had a great sense of humor. He told the best jokes. Larry was a fan of music, and liked listening to the local band, Old No. 7.
Larry is survived by his children Kimberly (Brogan) Thompson of Pace, FL, Lori Brogan of Covington, and Larry J. Brogan of Ionia, MI, grandchildren Amber, Jessica, and Amanda Teliin, Dominic Thompson, Gage and Gwyneth Hamlin, Mikayla Aldrich and Vayda Basto, siblings Dennis (Pam) Brogan and Colleen (Pat) Ketola of L’Anse, and Betty (Mark) Usitalo of Chassell, his special uncle/friend Darriel Sands of L’Anse, and aunt and uncle Darlene and William Sands of Naples, Florida. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. He also leaves behind his pet and friend “Littleman”. He was preceded in death by his parents, maternal grandmother Jenny Hill, and paternal grandmother Minnie Sands.
A private family memorial service will be held, followed by a memorial and benefit for him at a later date.
