Larry L. Ross' Obituary
Larry L. Ross, age 72, of Watton, MI passed away suddenly Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital., L’Anse. He was born in Goodrich, MI on December 31, 1942, the son of the late Jessie and Sylvia (Copenen) Ross. Larry graduated from L’Anse High School in 1961. He then attended Northern Michigan University where he received his BS in 1981. Larry married the former Judith Niemela in Covington on June 29, 1963. He was employed at Finlandia University as Vice President of Finance until his retirement in 2006. He had also prepared income taxes for various clients. Larry was a member of the Lions Club, the L’Anse Golf Club and had been a trustee on the Covington Township Board and Baraga County Credit Union Board. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, 4 wheeling and being outdoors. His family was has greatest love.
Mr. Ross is survived by his loving wife Judy, sons Robert (Roberta) Ross of Ironwood, Larry (Rhonda) Ross of Bruce Crossing, Keith (Tina) Ross of Gladstone and Tim (Chandra) of Interlochen, MI, grandchildren Mitchell, Brittney, Brandon, Nicklas, Jakob, Taylor, Ian, Dylan and Cypress, great grandchild Kylie and sisters Ann Ross of Muskegon, MI and Virginia Miller of the Twin Cities, Minnesota. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Pastor Peter Suomela officiating. The family greeted friends at the funeral chapel on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Following the funeral service, the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon in the Harrington Gathering Room, located at the funeral chapel. Memorials in Mr. Ross’s honor may be directed to the American Lung Association.
