LLOYD A KNUUTILA's Obituary
LLOYD A. KNUUTILA, 66, of L’Anse, MI. passed away Friday, April 16, 2010 at his residence following an illness of several months. Lloyd was born November 11, 1943 in Ishpeming, the son of the late August and Doris (Vincent) Knuutila. He attended the L’Anse area schools and was a member of the United Methodist Church in L’Anse. Following school, Lloyd served in the U.S. Marine Corp. He was an independent residential electrician in the area until his recent illness. On June 23, 2006, he married the former Susan Popour in Escanaba, MI. Lloyd was a member of the American Legion Post 444 in Baraga and a life member of the Marine Corp League and the Eagles Aerie Lodge 2287 in L’Anse. Lloyd enjoyed hunting, fishing and metal detecting. He was a staunch and loyal fan of the Green Bay Packers.
Lloyd is survived by his loving wife, Susan, son Roland (Kari) Knuutila of Olalla, WA., daughter Lori (Jim) Nettie of Westland, MI, grandchildren James Jr., Tayler, and Drew. He is also survived by his brother Jack (Alice) Knuutila of Buena Vista, TN., sisters Kaye Boswell of Wayne, MI. and Jayne (John) Doran of Westland, MI. Several nieces and nephews, including special niece Sarah and other relatives survive.
A Memorial service for Mr. Knuutila was celebrated at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at 2 p.m. with Pastor John Henry officiating. The family greeted friends at the chapel from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Following the service, the family invited the friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon at the American Legion Post 144 in L’Anse.
