MARCELLA J. AUGER's Obituary
MARCELLA J. AUGER, 79, of L'Anse passed away Monday, February 15, 2010 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital shortly following admittance. She was born in L'Anse on April 15, 1930 the daughter of the late Graydon and Marceline (Deschaine) Newland. Marcella attended school in L'Anse. She married Clayton C. Auger on May 8, 1951 in Colorado Springs, CO. He preceded her in death on July 6, 2008. Marcella had worked at Gambles Hardware Store, L'Anse until 1966 and then worked as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service until her retirement. She was a member of United Methodist Church, L'Anse and the American Legion Post 144 Auxiliary. Marcella enjoyed bird watching, handiwork, baking, reading and visiting with her family and friends.
Mrs. Auger is survived by her loving daughters Norma (Arthur) Tessmer of Pickford, MI., Jane (Joseph) Darcy of Marquette, and Robin Harrier of Ishpeming, son David Lassio of Boulder, CO., 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her brother Gordon, and her sister Donna Blood.
A memorial service for Mrs. Auger was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2010 from United Methodist Church, L'Anse with Pastor John Henry officiating. Spring interment will take place in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The family received friends at the church on Saturday from 11 a.m until the time of the service. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family suggests memorials in Mrs. Auger's honor be directed to United Methodist Church, L'Anse or Hope Lodge, 611 W. Dodge St., Marshfield, WI. 54449.
