MARGARET M. ROSS's Obituary
MARGARET M. ROSS, 84, of Baraga, passed away suddenly Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital. Margaret was born April 24, 1923 in L’Anse, daughter of the late Hector and Helen (DeCota) Morin. She attended school in L’Anse and later completed 2 years of college. She married Leonard Eugene Potter and he preceded her in death in 1962. She then married Dennis (Mike) Ross. He died in 1988. Margaret was a member of KBIC and active in numerous civic affairs. Including the tribal council. She was a strong believer in learning and education and taught for the L’Anse-Baraga Head Start program and later for the KBIC Head Start program. Her first love was the welfare of her family and their needs overshadowed all her other activities. She was an avid reader, loved to garden, and keep busy with civic interests. Margaret is survived by her loving family, sons James Potter of Baraga, Kenneth (Sandra) Potter of Everett, WA., ,Blaine Ross of Baraga, daughter Robbie (Michael Cornelius) of Hancock, grandchildren Robert, Sean, Dacota, Tanya and Susie; step-daughter Carole (Robert) Carlson and step-son Gene (Marilyn) Ross both of Baraga; step-grandchildren Roxanne, Tammy, Murray and Nicole; sister Mary Walker of Baraga sister-in-law Darlene Morin of L’Anse. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
A memorial funeral service for Margaret was held Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at 12 noon at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse. Judy Mattson officiated. Following the service, friends were invited to join the family for a luncheon and fellowship at the Ojibwa Senior Citizens Center in Baraga. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family suggests memorials to the Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly or the Ojibwa Community Library. Envelopes are available at the funeral chapel. The Reid Funeral Service and Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
