MARGARET O. SNYDER's Obituary
MARGARET O. SNYDER, 85, of Skanee, passed away Friday, December 5, 2003 at her residence in Skanee. She was born in Newberry, MI. on April 3, 1918 daughter of the late Charles and Lucy (Shufelt) Kubont. Margaret graduated from McMillan High School in 1935. In 1940 she earned her B.S. degree from Northern Michigan University. Margaret married John D. Snyder in Manistique, MI. on November 30, 1945. He preceded her in death in 1985. In 1964 she received her M.A. degree from Northern Michigan University majoring in school administration and psychology. Margaret began her teaching career in business education at McMillan High School then moved to L’Anse and taught at L’Anse High School. Her professional career included 10 years teaching and 24 years holding administration positions. At retirement in 1981 she was superintendent of the Copper Country Intermediate School District. Margaret was a member of United Methodist Church, L’Anse, Eastern Star, Alpha Delta Kappa-Women’s Education Sorority, and had been a former member of the Arvon Twp. School Board.
Mrs. Snyder is survived by her loving children, John (Barbara) Snyder of Elgin, AZ., Mary (Rodney) DeLine of L’Anse and Dorothy Snyder of Skanee, grandchildren; Maryfaith, Sarah, Christian, John and Patrick, great-grandchild; Samantha, brother; Leonard (Martha) Kubont and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers.
Funeral services for Mrs. Snyder were held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2003 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Reverend Jim Mathews officiating. Interment will take place in the Skanee Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral chapel on Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until time of service. Memorials in Mrs. Snyder’s honor may be directed to the American Lung Association. The Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
