MARIAN THERESA HEIKKINEN's Obituary
MARIAN THERESA HEIKKINEN, 85, of Aura passed away Friday, November 10, 2006 at Bayside Village where she had been a resident for one year. She was born in L''nse on August 20, 1921, a daughter of the late Moise and Marian (Woydziak) Deschaine. Theresa graduated from L'Anse High School as Valedictorian of the class of 1940, and attended Commercial College in LaCrosse, WI., where she was later employed. Upon returning to L'Anse she was employed at the Deschaine Insurance Agency and Western Union office until her marriage to Reino Heikkinen on June 22, 1946. He preceded her in death on October 25, 1986. She was Arvon Township Clerk for one term, secretary of the Aura Hall Board for many years and treasurer of the Aura Fire Department Auxiliary for 8 years. Theresa was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L'Anse.
Mrs. Heikkinen is survived by her loving sons, Lance (Katherine) of Baraga, Laird "Larry" (Bonnie) of Aura, and Colin and special friend Diane of Aura, grandsons, Scott, Jason, Corey, Joel, granddaughters, Shana and Suzette, great grandson, Dillon and great granddaughter, Haylee. She was preceded in death by her son, Neil in 1995, sister, Edythe Vuk in 2001, brother, Charles Deschaine.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L'Anse with Father George Maki, celebrant. Interment took place in the Aura Cemetery. The family received friends at church on Tuesday from 10 am until time of the Mass. The Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L'Anse has been entrusted with arrangements
