Marie, Marcia, Michael and Mark--
My deepest condolences on Nanny's passing. There wasn't a day that went by at the Sentinel office, when Nanny was working, that didn't include a good laugh.
Nanny's good friend and fellow employee(retired) Flo put it best when she stopped by the office today..."We were all family". Nanny, Fernie and Flo played a major part in that closeknit feeling that permeated the walls.
Down deep, I think Nanny enjoyed a good (friendly)fight with us just to keep us on our toes. And keep us she did!! There were a ton of "classic moments' that we all shared while Nanny was working. Some of them would make Johnny Carson blush.
When Nanny retired, I of course did not see her as much, but I would run into her when she stopped by to pick up a paper or shoot the breeze. I considered her, Fernie and Flo our loveable "Three Stooges". They ALWAYS made us stooges laugh with some zany antic and without exception made work fun...even on those Tuesdays back in the old days when we were there till midnight or later.
And when we went too far, she was quicker than you know what at keeping us in line. It was a lot quieter around the office after she retired and took me awhile to get over her not being there to "keep me in line".
I know it may not help much at this time, but please know there are plenty of others sharing in your loss.
On the bright she left me and most others who had the pleasure to know her with lots of indelible memories which will last a life-time.
All I can say is that St. Peter better stay on his toes or Nanny won't hesitate to put him in his place :>)
