MARILYN J. GAGNON's Obituary
MARILYN J. GAGNON, 73, of L’Anse, passed away Saturday May 18, 2013 at her residence following a lengthy illness. She was born in Pequaming, MI on April 28, 1940 the daughter of the late Peter and Stella (Rock) Getzen. Marilyn attended school in Baraga. She married Webster F. Gagnon in January of 1950 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Baraga. Marilyn was a former foster parent of nearly 200 children over the past 25 years in FTW, TX, and was currently the co-owner and operator of The Serenity Home in L’Anse. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse.
Mrs. Gagnon is survived by her husband Webster of L’Anse, sons Alan W. (Valoree S.) Gagnon of L’Anse, Micheal P. (Beth A.) Gagnon of L’Anse, Justin (Rebecca) Gagnon of FTW, TX, Taylor Gagnon of Herman, and Eddy S. Gagnon of Hancock, grandchildren Christian Gagnon of L’Anse, Dylan Cassel of Houghton, Landon Butcher of FTW, TX, Flash and Canon Gagnon of L’Anse, and Dominic Gagnon of FTW, TX, siblings Jodean (Nick) Lindemann of Baraga, Ramona (Ronald) LeClaire of L’Anse, Joanne Sackett, Peter (Jean) Getzen of Stephenson, MI. and Paul Getzen of Detroit, sister-in-law Nancy Fenili of Hancock. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gagnon were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Father John Longbucco officiating. The family greeted friends at the funeral chapel on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Deacon John Cadeau conducted a rosary at the funeral chapel on Thursday at 10.a.m. Following the funeral service, the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon in the Harrington Gathering Room, located at the funeral chapel. Memorials in Mrs. Gagnon’s honor may be directed to Sacred Heart School Library.
