MARTINA OLESKIE's Obituary
MARTINA OLESKIE, 105, of L’Anse, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Bayside Village, L’Anse where she had been a resident for 10 years. She was born in South Range, MI. on August 28, 1905 the daughter of the late Anthony and Marie (Qualio) Andrina. Martina attended school in South Range. She married John F. Oleskie in South Range in 1926. He preceded her in death in 1977. Martina was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse, the former Altar Society and Baragaland Senior Citizens, L’Anse. She enjoyed beadwork, and was active in senior citizens projects.
Mrs. Oleskie is survived by her loving daughter, Dorothy (Ted) Rolof of L’Anse, grandchildren, Linda (Jim) Schwab of L’Anse, Ted Rolof of Burlington, Iowa, and Jean (Jim) DesRochers of L’Anse, great grandchildren, Steven, Tyler, Ted, Cathy, Christine, Chelsea, Hunter, Bryan, Laura, and Jamie, great great grandchildren, Katlyn, Lane, Kayla, and Jayden. She was preceded in death by her sister, Frances Manderfield.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 from Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse with Father Brian Gerber, celebrant. The family greeted friends at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Interment took place in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery.
