MARY R. PATERSON's Obituary
MARY R. PATERSON, age 89, of Baraga, passed away Friday, September 30, 2011 at Bayside Village, L’Anse following a lengthy illness. She was born in Hamilton, Scotland on October 13, 1921 the daughter of the late Alexander and Janet (Hillan) Paterson. Mary and her family moved to Detroit when she was a child. She attended school in the Detroit area. Mary had been employed as a bank teller at Comerica Bank in Detroit for 40 years and retired in 1986. She moved to the U.P. in 1996 to be with her family. Mary was a baseball fan (Detroit Tigers and Chicago Cubs) and enjoyed crocheting, and watching television.
Mary is survived by 1 sister-in- law Betty (Alec) Paterson of Roanoke, VA, 4 nieces Janet (Tom) Kinnunen of Baraga, Debra (Joe) Nordstrom of Iron River, MI, Beverly (Kevin) Madgwick of South Lyon, MI, and Doreen (John) Leinonen of Arnheim, MI, 4 nephews Richard (Margie) Marshall of Waterford, MI, Gary (Claudia) Marshall of North Branch, MI, Sandy Paterson of Roanoke, VA, special nephew and best friend Thomas Kinnunen, special great-great nephew Cody, 17 great-nieces and nephews, and many great-great nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Alexander Paterson, and George Paterson, sister Jeannie Paterson and sister and brother-in-law Janet and Henry Marshall.
A memorial service for Mary will be held down state at a later time.
