MATT R. REILLEY's Obituary
MATT R. REILLEY, age 69, of Sebring, FL and formerly of Skanee, MI passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at his residence in FL. He was born in Des Moines, IA on February 11, 1944, the son of the late Kenneth and Maxine (Jennings) Reilley. He attended school in Des Moines, IA and graduated from the Police Academy in Detroit, MI. After serving as a Detroit Police Officer for several years Matt retired and moved his family to Skanee, MI where he owned & operated an electronics business, Discount Radio & TV. He is a former member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in L’Anse, MI, The Moose Lodge in Ft. Meyer, FL, and was a key member of the Baraga County Water Rescue Team. Matt was very social, he loved organizing gatherings at his home and entertaining his family & friends, dancing, boating, and fishing. He gave each of his grandchildren a distinct nickname when they were born, he loved teaching them about electronics and taking them fishing on Lake Superior. He was an avid camper and loved to travel with his family & meet new people.
Mr. Reilley is survived by his loving fiancé Myrna Kidd of Sebring, FL, his brother Richard Chambers of Des Moines, IA, his children Patrick (Suzette) Reilley of L’Anse, Matt Reilley II of Estero, FL, Dennis Schuetz of Atlanta, GA, Patricia Loosemore of Baraga, Pamela (Larry) Haack of New Berlin, WI, and Julie Rasanen of Baraga, grandchildren Joshua, Aaron, Courtney, Rebecca, Justin, Miles, Nathan, Alexis, Laura, Annaleese, Jaycie, Presley, Jaden, Jaxon, and Delena, great grandchildren Austin, Caleb, Ryan, Tate, Jayden, Hadley, and Lyli, and cousin Brenda Reilley of Des Moines, IA.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 am, Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse with Father John Longbucco, celebrant. The family greeted friends at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Deacon John Cadeau conducted a parish prayer service at the funeral chapel on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Spring interment will take place in the Skanee Cemetery.
