Peter
Please accept my very late condolances. I met Mel through his step-son Robert (Bob) while a freshman at Michigan Tech. What a great guy he was! Both Mel and his wife Jean are so warm and welcoming and it was obvious they were so in love. I especially recall a funny incident one weekend where I was helping Mel and Bob do some light logging of timber, and Mel was worried sick I would hurt myself (being a City slicker). Well, as it turned out, poor Mel nearly cut his finger off that day, and I didn't suffer a scratch! But, because Mel had such a great sense of humor, we all had a laugh and I felt like I had earned his trust. After leaving MTU, I missed his sense or humor and personality, and I want to let you know he is always in my memories. I know he's probably doing great in Heavan and cracking God up with his sense of humor. God bless him.
Peter
