MICHAEL E. CADEAU's Obituary
MICHAEL E. Cadeau, age 63, of Baraga, passed away Monday, July 21, 2014 at the Oscar G. Johnson Veterans Hospital, Iron Mountain, MI. He was born in Hancock on January 3, 1951 the son of Adolphus and Gertrude (Byykkonen) Cadeau. Michael attended Baraga area schools and graduated from L’Anse High School in 1968. Michael served in the Army during the Vietnam War. On January 4, 1976 he married the former Lynne Hulkkonen in Pelkie. Michael had been a mechanic at CertainTeed Ceilings, L’Anse until his retirement due to ill health. He was a member of Mission United Lutheran Church, Pelkie, and the NRA. Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheeling, camping and spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Cadeau is survived by his loving wife Lynne, children Mike Cadeau of Baraga and Emily Suzanne Lynne (Jordan) Hoover of L’Anse, grandchildren Avery, Braydon, Nolan, Ellie, Caleb, Will and Isac, mother Gertrude Makela of Hancock, brothers Joe (Linda) Cadeau of Diorite, MI, Phil (Joy) Cadeau of Alston and Erick (Jaime) Makela of Houghton Lake, MI, sisters Jan Mattson of Yuma, AZ, Lisa Makela of Yuma AZ, Sarah (Mark) Hiltunen of Alston, and Margie Makela of Pelkie, daughter-in-law Samantha, in-laws Beverly Kunick (Ronnie Dove), Charles (Judy) Hulkkonen and Carmen Harden (Bill Hansen). Numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles also survive. He was preceded in death by his father and his sister Kathy Huhta in 2002.
Funeral services for Mr. Cadeau were held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Pastor David Whitaker officiating. The family received friends at the funeral chapel on Sunday from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral service. Baraga County area veterans, under the direction of the Baraga American Legion Post #444 conducted military honors at the funeral chapel on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. Following the funeral service the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon in the Harrington Gathering room, located at the funeral chapel.
