Michael H "Egor" Selden's Obituary
Michael H. “Egor” Selden, age 69, of Baraga passed away among family on Friday, August 5, 2016 at UP Health System, Marquette. He was born in L’Anse on August 21, 1946. He was the son of the late Guy and Esther (Koppana) Selden. Mike graduated from L’Anse High School in 1964. He married the former Jean Sterling in Baraga on August 30, 1975. Mike had worked as a welder in the metal fabrication industry. He was best known for music, first for drumming in the bands “Egor’s Rubber Band” and “C.C. Sundance”, and later for DJing at many weddings, bowling tournaments and other parties. Mike also enjoyed salmon fishing and woodworking.
Mike is survived by his loving wife Jean, children Dale (Coleen) Selden of Minneapolis, Michael Jr. (Jennifer) Selden of Chicago, Brooke Selden-Ellenich of Baraga, and Kelly (Megan) Selden of Seattle, grandchildren Kayla, Amanda, Cole, and Conner, great grandchild Emma, and brother Ray ”Bud” (Ruth) Selden of L’Anse. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Caroline “Cis” and Shirley.
A celebration of Mike’s life was held from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel. Immediately following the celebration of life, friends were invited to join the family for fellowship and a meal in the Harrington Gathering Room, located at the funeral chapel.
