MILDRED ADALINE "MILLIE" MAKI's Obituary
MILDRED ADALINE “MILLIE” MAKI, 79, of Pelkie, MI., passed away Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Baraga on December 10, 1933 the daughter of Albert and Florence (Sipe) Kunick. Millie graduated from Baraga High School. She married Paul Maki on June 2, 1956. He preceded her in death. Millie had worked as a cook for L’Anse area schools. She was a member of Alston Apostolic Lutheran Church, and the Alston VFW Auxiliary. Her family was always #1 to her, and she enjoyed cooking, and baking.
Millie is survived by her loving children Paul (Geri) Maki of Alston, David (Kim) Maki of Alston, Gail (Bill) Rolof of L’Anse, and Amy (Joe) Wentela of Stafford, VA, grandchildren Jeremy, Sara, Rachel, Megan, Emily, Jordan, Shane, Makenzi, and Madison, great grandchildren Brandt, Kayleigh, Aiden, and McKenna, mother Florence Kunick, brothers Sonny Kunick of Baraga, Ronnie (Louise) Kunick of Gwinn, Lloyd (Linda) Kunick of Nisula, and Bill Kunick of Marquette, sister Barbara Anderson of L’Anse, sisters-in-law Evelyn (Ruben) Turunen of Pelkie, and Dorothy Maki of Houghton. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her father Albert, her brother Gerald, and her grandson Jeffery.
Funeral services for Millie were held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2013 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Pastor Jesse Aho officiating. The family received friends Thursday, June 27, 2013 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral chapel and on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Following the funeral service, the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon in the Harrington Gathering Room, located at the funeral chapel. Interment will take place in the Alston Cemetery.
