NORMAN P. JARVEY's Obituary
NORMAN P. “BUD” JARVEY, 79, of L’Anse, passed away suddenly at his residence, Tuesday, October 21, 2003. He was born in Park Falls, WI. on November 8, 1923, son of the late Charles and Pelia (Martel) Jarvey. Bud attended L’Anse area Schools and was a lifetime area resident. He was employed at Celotex Corporation as a maintenance worker until his retirement in 1986. On November 20, 1948 he married the former Betty Long in L’Anse. During WW II, Bud served as a Coxwain in the U.S. Navy. He was discharged in 1945. Bud was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse, and the L’Anse VFW Post 3897. He enjoyed making leather crafts, making knives, fishing, hunting, and loved working in his garden with his wife, Betty. . Mr. Jarvey is survived by his loving wife, Betty, son; Robert (Carmen) Jarvey of Colorado Springs, CO., daughters; Mary Presley of Waukegan, IL., Norma Jarvey of Mountain Home, ID., Cathy (Ted) Hokenson of L’Anse, Janet (Jim) Froberg of Pelkie, grandchildren; Aaron, Krista, Nicole, Jessica, Robyn, and Terry; great grandchildren; Darashay and Rianna; brothers, Carroll (Rose) Jarvey and Howard Jarvey both of Escanaba, sister; Betty Bellaire of Baraga. Numerous nieces and nephews, including special nephew, Donald Jarvey and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his son, Charles in 1955 and 2 brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 25, 2003 from the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Father Greg Heikkala officiating. Interment took place in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family received friends Friday, October 24, 2003 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse and 1 hour prior to Mass on Saturday. Baraga County Area Veterans conducted military honors on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. followed by a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Following Mass on Saturday the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and luncheon in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church fellowship hall.
