PATRICIA L. "PAT" MAKI's Obituary
PATRICIA L. “PAT” MAKI, 64, of Baraga, passed away Friday, November 5, 2004 at her residence. She was born in Assinins, MI. on March 17, 1940 daughter of the late Francis W.Dowd and Sarah L. (Loonsfoot) Edwards. Pat attended school in Assinins. She married Arthur Maki on August 20, 1960 in Elo, MI. He preceded her in death in December of 2000. Pat was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Church, Assinins, Ojibwa Senior Citizens, Kewennaw Bay Indian Community, Baraga American Legion Auxiliary Post 444, Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary Aerie 2287, L’Anse VFW and was a former tribal council member. She enjoyed attending Water Cross races, riding around in her golf cart. She loved her dog “Pokey,”going shopping, playing solitaire, rummy and was an avid bingo fan.
Mrs. Maki is survived by her loving children; Edward (Kerri) Maki of Pelkie, Robert Maki of Baraga, Arthur Jr. (Patti) Maki of Zeba, and Julie Maki (Larry) of Baraga, grandchildren; Damian, Darcye, Michael, Brittany, Fud-Bud, Heather, Kristine, Robert, and Courtney, brothers; John, Tom (Rosie), Joe (Kelly), Donnie (Vickie), Bruce, Larry and Allan (Barb), sisters; Doris (Ray) Roberts and Mary (Bob) Saunders. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her brother, Eddie.
Funeral services for Mrs. Maki were held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 8, 2004 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, with Father Chacko officiating. Interment took place in the Elo Cemetery. The family greeted friends on Monday from 4 p.m. until time of the service. The Baraga American Legion Auxiliary Post 444 conducted a memorial service at 6 p.m. followed by the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary Aerie 2287 at 6:30 p.m. Following the funeral service, friends were invited to join the family for fellowship and luncheon at the Baraga American Legion Post 444. The Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse has been entrusted with arrangements. Mrs. Maki’s obituary may also be viewed and condolences sent to the family at www.rfsc.net.
