Tim and Geneva--
I just wanted to drop a line and express my condolences on the loss of Pat. I didn't know him well, but I did know him well enough to know that he was quite a character!!
He was always quick with a joke and ALWAYS had a way of bring out the best in those me met along the path of life. He made you so comfortable to be around him when talking about pretty much anything! And Lord knows he was a GOOD talker!
The times I did have the fortune to talk with him on a number of subjects are those that I will remember the most about Pat. He always had a bright side to look things at no matter what the situation. It is a rare person that can take anything and mold it into something positive. Pat was one of those guys.
Not only has your family lost an icon and a father, but I feel that the entire county lost one of our most unique and beloved characters.
Those times when he didn't even or had barely got to know me, he was quick to strike up a conversation. He could make a positive impression on you just by being himself. Those are memories that will stay with me for a long time.
He was quite a guy and lived a full life. That gave him plenty of opportunity to share his life experiences---and there were many as I'm sure you are both aware--with the community. What more could someone ask from another person?
I really think he enriched EVERYONE who had the benefit of knowing him.
All my best to you two and your families at this trying time. Your family and Pat are in my prayers and I just wanted you to know how lucky I felt getting know him as much as I did.
He was plain out a fun and interesting person to talk to and I enjoyed our conversations--albeit there was not enough, immensely.
I hope it helps to keep in mind that you are not the only ones who will miss Pat. There are many Baraga County folks...and others I'm sure that feel the same way.
Please take comfort in knowing that.
