PATRICK A. "HUMMER" LA FERNIER's Obituary
Patrick A. “Hummer” LaFernier, age 59, of Zeba, MI passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, October 5, 2014. He was born in L’Anse on February 8, 1955 the son of the late Wilbur and Lois (Stodderd) LaFernier. Hummer graduated from L’Anse High School. He worked for Tribal Construction and was also a commercial fisherman. Hummer provided fresh fish for many people and businesses in the U.P. Hummer enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and family, going to rummage sales and just bumming around. He was a member of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community.
Mr. LaFernier is survived by his loving son Anthony “Tony” (Cindy) LaFernier of L’Anse, grandchildren Camiel, Anthony, Jayde and Logan, two great grandchildren Rylan and Bentley, brothers and sisters Sybil LaFernier, Mike LaFernier, Georgie LaFernier, Marsha Wantaled, Margaret Vanover, Harry LaFernier, Cosie LaFernier, Rebecca Decker, Angela Friisval, Rose Landraux, and Earl LaFernier.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Arlene Wessman and his brother John LaFernier
Funeral services for Mr. LaFernier were held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse. The family greeted friends at the funeral chapel on Saturday from 4 until 6 p.m. Following the funeral service, the family invited friend to join them for fellowship and luncheon at the Ojibwa Senior Center, Baraga.
Hummer’s favorite saying was “Tomorrow” so, until tomorrow comes we will be loving and missing you.
