PATRICK W. JOHNSON's Obituary
PATRICK W. JOHNSON, 54, of Skanee, MI, passed away suddenly Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital. Pat was born in Hancock, MI, November 12, 1953, son of the late Lauri and Virginia(Blankenship) Johnson. He attended school in L'Anse and was a 1971 graduate of L'Anse High School. On May 7, 1993, he married the former Karen Fox in Las Vegas. Pat was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Skanee, a former member of the L'Anse Fire Department and the Skanee Fire Department where he was former secretary. He was also a member of L'Anse Masonic Lodge 547 F&AM. Pat was the owner of Johnson and Berry Manufacturing Company in L'Anse until his retirement in 2006. They fabricated precision parts for Pettibone and Terex machines and others. Pat was an active sportsman enjoying hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and restoring old tractors. He was fond of traveling,spending time in Florida and making maple syrup. Pat also loved to help others and was considered a "true" friend.
Pat is survived by his loving wife Karen, son , Duane Johnson of South Carolina, daughter Katy, at home, grandchildren Makayla and Jesse Johnson, brother Michael (Mary) Johnson of L'Anse, sisters Sandra (Gary) Jaakkola of Brighton, MI. and Lynn (John) Mocan of Lake Ann, MI. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Pat were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008 in the Zion Lutheran Church, Skanee with Judy Mattson officiating. Interment followed in the Skanee Cemetery. The family greeted friends on Monday evening, May 5, from 6 until 8 p,m at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L'Anse. The L'Anse Fire Department conducted a review at 6:15 p.m. followed by a Masonic service at 8 p.m. A visitation was also held at the church on Tuesday for 1 hour before the service. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
