PAUL R. MITCHELL's Obituary
PAUL R. MITCHELL, 58, of Livonia, MI. and former Baraga resident passed on to his eternal Lord on Friday, June 5, 2009 at Providence Hospital, Novi, MI. where he had been a patient for 2 weeks. He was born in Hancock on August 15, 1950 the son Harold and Aurelia (St. Onge) Mitchell. Paul graduated from Baraga High School in 1968. Following graduation he moved to Detroit where he was employed as a lineman for Detroit Edison Co. until his retirement in February of 2009. In 1970 he was drafted in the US Army and served his time in Panama. Paul was a member of the American Legion Post 444 in Baraga and the Legion Post in Livonia, the Rifle Shooting Club, and IEBW Union Local #17. His passion was his motorcycle and Chevy Camaro. Paul enjoyed spending time panning for gold in Chicken, Alaska.
Mr. Mitchell is survived by his children, Adam Mitchell of royal Oak, and Allison Sanderson of Arizona, grandchildren, Max and Megan, his parents, brothers, Allan (Marylyn) Mitchell,Ronald (Joanne) Mitchell, and Mike Mitchell all of Baraga, sisters, Joan (Tom) Miller of Sugarland, TX., Gail (Harold) Mitchell-Herrala of Baraga, aunts, Pat Ziehr and rosemary St. Onge, uncles, Donald and Robert St. Onge and Carl Mitchell. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his special friend Lisa Klobucher.
A memorial service for Mr. Mitchell was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L'Anse with Pastor John Henry officiating. The family greeted friends at the funeral chapel on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Baraga County area veterans, under the direction of the Baraga American Legion Post 444, conducted a military honor service at 10:30 a.m. Following the services the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon in the Harrington Gathering room, located at the funeral chapel.
