PEARL J. PICCIANO's Obituary
PEARL JOAN PICCIANO, 80, of Baraga, MI, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Bayside Village, L’Anse. She had been a resident at Bayside since 2005. Pearl was born in Zeba, MI. on March 11, 1931 the daughter of the late Henry and Louisa (Papin) Curtis. She attended school in Assinins. On October 26, 1946 she married Dominic Picciano. He preceded her in death in 1993. Pearl was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Church, Assinins, Keweenaw Bay Indian Community, Ojibwa Senior Citizens Center and a life member of the Baraga American Legion Post #444 Ladies Auxiliary. Pearl enjoyed camping, and listening to country music, especially Charley Pride.
Mrs. Picciano is survived by her loving children, LeRoy Picciano of Iron Mountain, Dominic (Ann) Picciano of Baraga, Kerry Picciano of Baraga, Shirley (Joe) Stevens of L’Anse, Barbara (Ken) Jones of Ontonagon, Sharon Wise of Monroe, MI., Darlene Wilson of Atlanta, GA., and Debra Picciano of Baraga, 11 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by a son, 2 grandsons, 1 sister, and 1 brother.
Funeral services for Mrs. Picciano were held at 11 am Friday, April 15, 2011 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Father Brian Gerber officiating. Interment took place in the Baraga Cemetery. The family greeted friends at the funeral chapel on Friday from 10 am until the time of the service. Following the funeral service the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon at the Ojibwa Senior Citizens Center, Baraga.
