Peter M. Massie's Obituary
Peter M. Massie, age 67 of Pelkie, MI passed away Monday, September 8, 2025 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital, L’Anse, MI with his loving family by his side. He was born in L’Anse on March 31, 1958 the son of the late Raphael and Frances (Hilgers) Massie. Peter graduated from Baraga High School in 1976. He acquired Massie Manufacturing in Baraga on June 17th, 1983 with his brother Robert and operated the business until his retirement in March of 2021. Peter and Rebecca Tober started dating on July 1, 1983, and have cherished 42 years together. Peter was a proud member of the Isle Royal Boaters Association; he loved boating and being on the water. Peter also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending mornings with friends over breakfast and coffee. He was well loved in his community and among friends for his generosity and willingness to help with projects of all kinds.
Peter is survived by his loving wife Rebecca, daughter Rhonyah Massie of Montana, brothers David (Susan) Massie, Mark (Linda) Massie, Dale (Lorriane) Massie, Thomas Massie all of Baraga, John (Cindy) Massie of Keweenaw Bay, sisters Susan Timm of Baraga, Kathleen Koski of Baraga, Mary (Doug) Tervo of L’Anse; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert and Dennis, and his sister Patricia.
Funeral services for Peter will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2025 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Pastor Jesse Aho officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1:30 pm until the time of the funeral service.
