PHYLLIS E. ADAMS's Obituary
PHYLLIS E. ADAMS, 71, of Baraga, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2011 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born in Pelkie, MI. on July 25, 1939 the daughter of the late Theodore and Olga (Rajala) Pulkki. Phyllis graduated from Highland Park High School in 1957. She married Paul Adams in Highland Park, MI. on August 2, 1958. Phyllis worked for downstate Livingston County as a bus driver and dispatcher until her retirement. She was a member of Mission United Lutheran Church, Pelkie, a life member of the Finnish Association in Farmington Hills, Little Brothers, Baraga County Historical Museum, and the Baraga American Legion Post 444 Ladies Auxiliary. She had also been an election worker. Phyllis was a talented wood carver specializing in Santas and birds that she sold all over the world on Ebay.
Mrs. Adams is survived by her loving husband Paul, children Michael J. Adams of Baraga, and Tammy L. (Will) Damrath of Denver, grandchildren Tyler, Luke, and Clayton, and sister Kathryn (Ed) Kokkila of Hancock, She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and her dog “Pancho.” She was preceded in death by her brothers Paul, and Samuel.
A memorial service for Mrs. Adams was held at 10 am Saturday, April 9, 2011 from Mission United Lutheran Church, Pelkie with Pastor John Autio officiating. Interment will take place in the Pelkie Cemetery. The family received friends at the church on Saturday from 9 am until the time of the service. Memorials in Mrs. Adam’s honor may be directed to the Copper Country Humane Society or Mission United Lutheran Church.
