RAYMOND A. MAKI's Obituary
RAYMOND A. MAKI, 63, of Baraga, passed away suddenly Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Marquette General Hospital. Ray was born March 7, 1947 in Pelkie, MI. the son of the late Reino and Elma (Hill) Maki. He attended school in Baraga and was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. Ray married the former Lorraine LeClaire at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Baraga on June 26, 1971. He was employed by the Baraga County Road Commission and was a supervisor until his retirement. Ray was a member of the Baraga American Legion Post 444.
Ray is survived by his loving wife Lorraine, daughter Wendy Niemela (special friend) John Liuska of Keweenaw Bay, “adopted” grandson Bruce Tovey, brother Robert (Brenda) Maki of Nisula, sisters Norma (Mike) Osterman of Florida, and Joyce Burke of Cuba, MO. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Ray was preceded in death by his son David on April 8, 2010.
Funeral services for Ray were held at 1 pm, Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse, MI. with Pastor Judy Mattson officiating The family received friends at the funeral chapel on Tuesday from 12 noon until the time of the services. Military honors were conducted at 12:30 p.m. under the direction of the Baraga American Legion Post 444. Following the services, the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon at the Baraga American Legion Post 444.
