RAYMOND C. SAARI's Obituary
RAYMOND C. SAARI, 65, of Aura, MI. passed away suddenly at his residence on Thursday, September 25, 2003. He was born September 3, 1938 in Hancock, MI. son of the late Charles and Hilda (Toyras) Saari. Raymond attended L’Anse Area Schools. He served his country in the United States Army at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri from 1960 to 1962. Raymond made a living driving truck, as a woodsman and he also sailed the Great Lakes. He was a member of the Baraga County Senior Citizens Center.
Mr. Saari is survived by his sister; Anne Duguay of L’Anse, special friend David Kemppainen of L’Anse, and 1 nephew; Michael Duguay of Nashville, TN. Numerous aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
Graveside services for Mr. Saari were held Monday, September 29, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at the Aura Cemetery, Aura, MI. Baraga County Area Veterans conducted military honors at the cemetery following the service. Following the services at the cemetery, the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and luncheon at the Aura Fire Hall. The Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse have been entrusted with arrangements. Mr. Saari’s obituary may also be viewed at www.rfsc.net.
