RICHARD C. "RICKY" GEROUX's Obituary
RICHARD C. “RICKY” GEROUX, 37, of Baraga, MI. passed away suddenly Sunday, March 27, 2011, at Baraga County Memorial Hospital, L’Anse, MI. He was born in L’Anse on August 24, 1973 the son of Richard and Debra (Genschow) Geroux. Ricky graduated from Baraga High School in 1991. He was the owner/operator of Keweenaw Kustoms Kwik Lube in Baraga. Until recently he was employed by the Keweenaw Bay Ojibwa Community College for the past 13 years as the fitness coordinator. Ricky was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Church, Assinins and the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community. He liked riding his Harley Fat Boy, building radio controlled racecars, designing custom vehicles and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. He had received his certificate in fitness training, enjoyed lifting weights, and participated in the Tough Man competition. Most of all he loved spending time with his children.
Mr. Geroux is survived by his parents Richard (Cheryl) Geroux of Baraga and Debra (Charles) Parrish of Baraga, his true love Yvette Friisvall of Baraga and their children Richard C. Geroux, Jr., Harley Geroux, Octavia Geroux and his son Jax Ryder who is due soon, sister Sharon (Mark) Nez of New Mexico, aunts, uncles, nieces Marissa and Megan, nephew Derek, cousins and other family members. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Funeral services for Mr. Geroux were held at 11 am Thursday, March 31, 2011 from the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Father Brian Gerber officiating. Spring interment will take place in the Baraga Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral chapel on Thursday from 10 am until the time of the service. Following the service, the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon at the Baraga American Legion Post 444.
