RITA C. SOLBERG's Obituary
RITA C. SOLBERG, 76, of L’Anse, passed away March 5, 2004 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital, L’Anse, following a lengthy illness. She was born in Pequaming, MI. on November 2, 1927 daughter of the late John and Winnfred (Melavey) Tobin. Rita attended school in Pequaming and graduated from L’Anse High School in 1945. She married Arthur Solberg in L’Anse on April 26, 1948. He preceded her in death in 1996. They lived in Redford, MI. for a number of years. Rita returned to L’Anse 7 years ago. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rita enjoyed her role as a homemaker and spending time with her loving family.
Mrs. Solberg is survived by her loving sons; Steve (Vicky) Solberg and Patrick Solberg both of L’Anse, grandchildren; Carl, Christopher, Michael, Jennifer, Jesse and Danielle, great-grandchildren Kayli and Alyssa, brother; John (Lanie) Tobin of Detroit, MI. sisters; Betty (Ralph) Sayatovich of L’Anse and Marian (Swerre) Eliassen of Delaware. Many special nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by sons, Artie and Michael, and sisters, Pat and Helen.
A Memorial Mass for Mrs. Solberg was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2004 from Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse with Father Greg Heikkala officiating. Interment took place in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The family received friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of the Mass. Friends were invited to join the family for fellowship and luncheon at the church following the Memorial Mass. The Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse have been entrusted with arrangements.
