RONALD J. LeCLAIRE's Obituary
RONALD JOHN LECLAIRE, age 80, of L’Anse, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital, after a long illness. He was born on October 23, 1932, the son of the late Fredrick and Elsie (Klemett) LeClaire. Ron graduated from L’Anse High School in 1951, and retired from MDOT. Ron was a military Corporal in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict. On June 20, 1953 he married the former Ramona E. Getzen at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Baraga. Ron was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse. He loved going to camp, hunting, cooking, driving, but most of all, fishing. He enjoyed the company of others, and was a great conversationalist.
Ron is survived by his loving wife Ramona; children, Ronald“Chip” LeClaire of L’Anse, Gary LeClaire of Fort Worth, Texas, Michelle (John) Hill of Cottage Grove, Minnesota, and Gail (Tom) Fitzpatrick of Hudson Oaks, Texas; sister, Carol (Joe) Marinich of L’Anse; grandchildren, Kristen, Austin, Kylie, Tommy, Sarah, Miles, Ashley, Vanessa, Logan, Marc, and Carmela, and one great grandchild Hadley. Ron was preceded in death by his sister Jean Townsend, and brother Marvin “Dizz” LeClaire.
A celebration of Ron’s life was held on Saturday, October 26, 2013, from 6 until 9 p.m at the Eagle’s Club, L’Anse. Baraga County area veterans, under the direction of the Baraga American Legion Post #444 conducted military honors at the Eagles at 7 p.m. Saturday evening. Friends and relatives were welcome.
