RUSSELL J. PINEAULT's Obituary
RUSSELL J. PINEAULT, 77, of L’Anse, passed away suddenly at his residence Friday, March 19, 2004. Russ was born in L’Anse on May 30, 1926 son of the late Michael and Lena (St. Onge) Pineault. Russ attended local schools and was a graduate of L’Anse High School. He worked in the Detroit area for a period of time, returning to L’Anse following the death of his father. He was employed in the parts department at the Pettibone Corporation in Baraga until his retirement. Russ was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse, a member of the former St. Francis Circle, a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and had served as its financial secretary for many years. He was also a member of the L’Anse Eagles Club Aerie #2287 and a former member of the Lions Club. Russ was a dedicated and faithful member of the church and a willing worker for the Eagle’s regular pasty sales. Russ will be fondly remembered for his unique and special sense of humor.
Russ is survived by several cousins and a host of friends in the community. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Leonard in 1993.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, March 24, 2004 from Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Norm Clisch was the Celebrant and spring burial will take place in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery. Friends called at the Knights of Columbus Hall on N. Main St., L’Anse, Tuesday, March 23, 2004 from 6 until 8 p.m. A rosary service was recited at 7 p.m. followed by an Eagles memorial service at 7:30 p.m. An additional visitation period was held at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to the Mass. Funeral arrangements for Mr. Pineault have been entrusted to the Reid Funeral Service and chapel, L’Anse. Russ’s obituary may also be viewed at and condolences sent to www.rfsc.net.
