SANDRA, J. SUNDMAN's Obituary
SANDRA J. "SANDY" SUNDMAN, 63, of Houghton, MI., passed away shortly after admittance to Portage Health System in Hancock on Sunday, May 20, 2007. She was born in Hancock, MI. on May 14, 1944 daughter of the late Sulo and Aune (Ahonen) Mikkola. Her father passed away during WWII while Sandra was still a child. Her mother then married Paul Jacobson and Paul adopted and raised Sandy as his own. She graduated from L'Anse High School in 1962. Sandy then attended college at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti. She was a member of United Lutheran Church, L'Anse. Sandy loved to travel in her younger years and was a frequent visitor of FLorida during the winter months.
Sandy is survived by her loving children, Steve (Michele) Martinac of Ishpeming, and Bonnie (Kevin) Patana of Houghton, grandchildren, Ryan and Tyler Martinac, and Travis, Taylor, and Taryn Kaurala. Numerous cousins and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her father, Sulo, mother, Aune, and father Paul.
A memorial service for Sandy was held at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2007 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L'Anse with Pastor Scott Williams officiating. Interment will take place in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The family received friends on Thursday evening from 6 p.m. until time of the service. Following the service, the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and refreshments in the Harrington Gathering room, located at the funeral home. The family has entrusted the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L'Anse with arrangements.
