SCOTT J. VAN ABEL's Obituary
SCOTT J. VAN ABEL, 41, of L'Anse passed away suddenly Sunday, September 2, 2007 at his residence. He was born in L'Anse on June 27, 1966, the son of John C. and Patricia (Collins) Van Abel. Scott attended school in L'Anse and was a lifetime resident. He was a long time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2287 in L'Anse. Scott was a skilled saw filer at Besse Forest Products Inc. in Baraga. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, and the Minnesota Vikings football team, loved animals, fishing, and camping at the mouth of the Huron. Scott was most comfortable when he was in the woods.
Scott is survived by his father John C. VanAbel of Calumet, his loving mother Patty VanAbel of L'Anse, sister Maureen VanAbel of L'Anse, his grandfather Paul VanAbel also of L'Anse, numerous aunts, uncles, 3 nephews and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, paternal grandmother, 1 aunt and 1 uncle.
A celebration of Scott’s life was held Friday, September 7, 2007 at 5 p.m, at the Eagles Club on U.S. 41 in L'Anse. Arrangements were entrusted to the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L'Anse, MI.
