TRAVIS J. SEPPANEN's Obituary
TRAVIS J. SEPPANEN, 24, of Baraga passed away suddenly on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Hancock on October 16, 1986 the son of William Seppanen and Patty (Paul) Paavola. Travis attended Baraga High School. Following his graduation, Travis attended welding classes and was proud of obtaining his welding certificate He had been employed for Terex in Traverse City and most recently at their plant in Baraga as a certified welder. Travis was a member of Keweenaw Bay Indian Community. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy football fan and enjoyed watching and playing basketball with his friends. Travis loved spending time with his sons.
Travis is survived by his loving family, twin sons Brody and Gage of L’Anse, mother Patty (Paul) Paavola of Pelkie, father William K. Seppanen of Baraga, brothers William (Angel) Seppanen of L’Anse, Shawn (Evelyn Hebert) Seppanen of L’Anse, and Kyle and David Seppanen of Baraga, sister Nicole (Murry)) Ross of Baraga, grandparents Tony and Ilene LaPlante of Baraga, and Eleanor Seppanen of L’Anse, nieces and nephews Austin, Skylar, Kaylee, Tyler, and Nolan. Numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his godfather Albert LaPlante, uncle Kurt LaPlante and grandfather Waino Seppanen.
Funeral services for Travis were held at 11 am Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Pastor Judy Mattson officiating. Spring interment will take place in the Baraga Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral chapel on Monday, December 13, 2010 from 6 until 8 pm and on Tuesday from 10 am until the time of the service. Following the service, the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon in the Harrington Gathering room, located at the funeral chapel.
