VIOLA M. HAKOLA MURTO's Obituary
VIOLA M. HAKOLA MURTO, 79, of Pelkie, MI. passed away Monday, June 26, 2006 at Marquette General Hospital following a short illness. She was born in L’Anse, MI. on March 3, 1927 daughter of the late Joseph and Dora (Wetheral) Sipe She attended local schools. Viola married George Hakola, he passed away in 1945. She then married Waino Hakola and he passed away in 1979. Viola was then married to Bill Murto who predeceased her in 1994. She worked at Pelkie Co-Op as a clerk along with being a homemaker. Viola was a member of Mission United Lutheran Church. She enjoyed fishing, baking, and playing cards, including pinochle.
Mrs. Murto is survived by her loving son, Roy (Mallie) Hakola of Pelkie, grandchildren, Lorna, Krystle, Amber, Donna, Tammy, and David, great-grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Amanda, Mihalia, Kalli, Skyler, Quinton, and Jordan, sister, Florence Kunick of Baraga, and Luella Moravac of Wabeno, WI. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death her grandson David Hakola and 10 brothers and sisters.
A memorial service for Mrs. Murto was held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2006 at Mission United Lutheran Church, Pelkie with Rev. John Autio officiating. Interment took place in the Pelkie Cemetery. The family received friends at the church on Friday from 12 noon until time of the service. The family has entrusted the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with arrangements
