VIRGINIA H. HILTUNEN's Obituary
VIRGINIA H. HILTUNEN, age 84, of Plymouth, Minnesota and formerly of L’Anse passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at North Memorial Hospice in Robbinsdale, Minnesota. She was born in L’Anse on March 4, 1928 the daughter of the late Peter and Lena (Tollefson) Clyne. Virginia graduated from L’Anse High School and then she received her RN degree from Fairview Nursing School in Minneapolis. Virginia married Norman Hiltunen in L’Anse on September 10, 1949. He preceded her in death on February 12, 2001. She was a member of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community.
Mrs. Hiltunen is survived by her sons Steven (Brenda) Hiltunen of Mesa, AZ., and Paul (Holly) Hiltunen of Maple Grove, MN, 4 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her daughter Susan, sister Margaret, and brothers Al, and Donald.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hiltunen were held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2012 from the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Pastor Greg Mileski officiating. Spring interment will take place in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral chapel on Monday from 10 a.m until the time of the service. Following the funeral service, the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon in the Harrington Gathering Room, located at the funeral home.
