VIRGINIA M. JOHNSON's Obituary
VIRGINIA M. JOHNSON, 76, of L'Anse, MI. passed away Wednesday evening November 8, 2006 at Bayside Village, L'Anse, following a lengthy illness. She was born in L'Anse on May 20, 1930 daughter of the late Clarence and Florence (LaVack) Blankinship. Virginia graduated from L'Anse High School. She worked for Doctor Louis Guy as his receptionist and dental assistant until her retirement. Virginia married Lauri Johnson in L'Anse on September 8, 1951. He preceded her in death on March 13, 1995. She was a member of United Lutheran Church, L'Anse and was active in many church functions. Virginia was also president of the Residents Council at Bayside Village. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting for her family, and baking. Virginia was a loving caregiver to her husband until his death.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her loving children, Michael (Mary) Johnson of L'Anse, Patrick (Karen) Johnson of Skanee, Sandra (Gary) Jaakkola of Brighton, MI., and Lynn (John) Mocan of Lake Ann, MI., grandchildren, William, Rebecca, Duane, Katherine, Carly, Evan, Thomas, and Kara, great-grandchildren, Makayla, Jesse, Dylan, Macy, and Camryn, brother, Clarence Edward (Mavis) Blankinship II of White Pine, MI. and sister, Jean Hudson of Hotchkiss, CO. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson were held at 7 p.m. Saturday, November 11, 2006 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L'Anse with Pastor Scott Williams officiating. Interment took place in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral chapel on Saturday evening from 5 p.m. until time of the service. Following the service, the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and refreshments in the Harrington Gathering room, located at the funeral home. The Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L'Anse has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
