WEBSTER F. GAGNON's Obituary
WEBSTER F. GAGNON, 77, of L’Anse, passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 8, 2013 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital, L’Anse, MI. He was born in Chassell, MI on January 30, 1936, the son of the late Webster and Elaine (Landstrom) Gagnon. Webster attended school in Chassell, graduating in 1954. Webster joined the United States Navy in 1957 and served aboard the USS Harveson. Following his discharge, he married the former Marilyn J. Getzen in January of 1959 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Baraga. She preceded him in death on May 18, 2013.Webster was a former foster parent for nearly 200 children over the past 25 years in FTW, TX, and was currently the owner and operator of The Serenity Home in L’Anse. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse. Webster enjoyed woodworking, building things for his grandchildren. His patience and understanding was underscored by his unselfish personality.
Mr. Gagnon is survived by his sons Alan W. (Valoree S.) Gagnon of L’Anse, Micheal P. (Beth A) Gagnon of L’Anse, Justin (Rebecca) Gagnon of FTW, TX, Taylor Gagnon of Herman, and Eddy S. Gagnon Hancock, grandchildren Christian Gagnon of L’Anse, Dylan Cassel of Houghton, Landon Butcher of FTW, TX, Flash and Canon Gagnon of L’Anse, and Dominic Gagnon of FTW, TX; and sister Nancy Fenili of Hancock, sister-in-laws Jodean (Nick) Lindemann of Baraga, Ramona (Ronald) LeClaire of L’Anse, Joanne Sackett, and brothers-in-law Peter (Jean) Getzen of Stephenson, MI. and Paul Getzen of Detroit. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Gagnon were held at 11 am on Friday, July 12, 2013 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Deacon John Cadeau officiating. The family greeted friends at the funeral chapel on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of the funeral service. Baraga County area veterans, under the direction of the Baraga American Legion Post #444 conducted military honor at the funeral chapel at 10:00 a.m. and a parish rosary was conducted at 10:30 a.m. Following the services; the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon in the Harrington Gathering Room, located at the funeral chapel. Memorials in Mr. Gagnon’s honor may be directed to Sacred Heart Library Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral chapel. Interment will take place in the Baraga Cemetery
