WILLIAM S. "BILL" DAVIS's Obituary
WILLIAM S. “BILL” DAVIS, 78, of Aura, MI. lost his longtime battle with COPD on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Baraga County Memorial Hospital. Bill was born in Cook County, IL on May 13, 1934, the son of the late William J. and Josaphine (Pylinkse) Davis. He grew up in Grand Haven, MI and proudly served in the Naval Reserves in 1952. He married the former Carol "Peaches" Stillson in 1955 and moved to Upper Michigan in 1972. Bill was a plumber by trade, worked many years for Bianco Plumbing and finished his career at the L'Anse Golf Course as their head groundskeeper. As everyone knew he was an avid cribbage player, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, hunting, fishing and exploring the Arvon Mountains on his four-wheeler.
"Gramps" is survived by his daughter, Audrey Diehl, daughter-in-law Ronda Davis, four grandchildren Nathan (Rachael) Davis, Corey Brouchoud, Isabella Diehl, Cohen Diehl and one great granddaughter Kira Davis. He is also survived by many niece, nephews, and cousins along with many great friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, William E. Davis who passed March 28, 1978.
The family will receive friends at Zion Lutheran Church in Skanee on Thursday, April 4, 2013 from 11 a.m until 2 p.m. Pastor Judy Mattson will officiate a brief moment of prayer promptly at 11:30 a.m. A luncheon will then be provided by the Women's Auxiliary Club. The family welcomes condolences, however in lieu of flowers has requested any memorial donations be given to the Zion Lutheran Church, 13511 Roland Lake Road, Skanee, MI. 49946.
The family gives special thanks to the entire nursing staff at Baraga County Memorial Hospital for the outstanding and loving care they gave Bill over the years.
