We have years of experience caring for families, from all walks of life. Each family comes to us because they know we are leaders in our profession, dedicated to excellence in service, and have the highest integrity.
We are here to honor the wishes of the families. Our funeral home is completely barrier free with 2 spacious funeral chapels, a coffee lounge, a large capacity luncheon facility and ample parking in either of our parking lots. We are here to serve you with compassion and affordability whether the choice is traditional funeral services, cremation services, celebration of life funeral services or memorial funeral services with videos or funeral pre-arrangements

Jack L Reid
Founder
Jack graduated from Wayne University, Dept. of Mortuary Science and served his residency in Pontiac, MI. He was co-owner of a funeral home in Oxford, MI. until he accepted a position with an international pharmaceutical firm and was promoted to national sales trainer and special representative for the United States. Prior to moving to the U.P., he was a supervisor and trainer for General Motors, returning to college to obtain an additional Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Administration from University of Michigan. He served his health care internship at the Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Flint, MI. A resident of the U.P. for over 30 years, Jack provided locum tenens manager coverage for over 25 funeral homes in the U.P. and Lower Michigan. He established the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel in 2000 to serve the greater Baraga County Area. Jack held mortuary science licenses in Michigan, Wisconsin, and North Carolina. Jack was a member of the National Funeral Directors Association, the Michigan Funeral Directors Association, and was a past president for the Upper Pennisula District 10. He was a member of the L'Anse Eagles Club, the Ottawa Sportsmans Club and was a charter member and one of the founders of the Baraga County Chamber of Commerce where he served on the Board of Directors for three years. He was also a past board member of the Western U.P. Michigan Works Organization.
Jack passed away May 13, 2016. He is survived by his loving wife Betty, children Jeff (Lora) Reid, Scott (Rob Gibson) Reid, Lisa (Douglas) Atkins, grandson Tyler Klein, other family members and many friends.
Dawn R. Supanich
Office Coordinator and Funeral and Cremation Service Associate
Dawn is a lifetime resident of L'Anse and a graduate of L'Anse High School. She is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L'Anse, and the L'Anse Women's Bowling League. Dawn has a son Anthony and 2 granddaughters, Brynn and Scarlett. She has been with the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel since its opening in 2000. Dawn serves as a funeral and cremation service associate and office coordinator. Her personal grief experiences are helpful in understanding and caring for those who have suffered the loss of a loved one.
Richard C. Utnehmer
Funeral and Cremation Service Associate
Dick Utnehmer passed away Friday, January 7, 2022.
He had been with the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel since its opening in 2000. He served as a funeral and cremation service associate. Dick is survived by his loving wife Lucille (Tatro) Utnehmer of L'Anse, 2 daughters, grand children, great grandchildren, numerous other family members and many friends.

Skip Cangemi
Funeral and Cremation Service Associate
Skip Cangemi has been with the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel since 2008. He serves as a funeral and cremation service associate. Skip and his wife Donna (Seavoy) Cangemi live in L'Anse and have 5 children. He is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L'Anse and the UP White Tails.
