ALICE L. TANGEN, 75, of Baraga, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday evening April 25, 2006 at Portage Health System in Hancock. She was born in L’Anse, MI. on February 26, 1931 daughter of the late J. Oliver Read Obituary
Rich, Laurel, Tom, Tim, Linda and Bruce, I am truly sorry I was not able to be there. Your Mom (my Internet Mom) meant a great deal to me and I will sorely miss her. Chris and I will be visiting one of these days and I will again pass along my sorrow at the passing of such a great lady. She will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

It was truly a pleasure getting to know your mother and wife. She was always so upbeat about everything and always made me feel like one of "the kids" when visiting or whenever I saw her out and about.
I don't think I ever saw her down...even through her courageous battle that ultimately called her away from the ones she loved most. Although her absence can't be replaced, the countless memories that all of you, and all who knew her have are something that can be cherished a lifetime.
I can only imagine how hard this past couple of weeks have been on all of you. Please take comfort in knowing there are others who share in your loss.
I know I will always remember her and see that smiling face which greeted me whenever I was in her company.

My thoughts and prayers are with each of you and your families. There are people we meet in our life who teach us lessons by how they live, that can last us a lifetime. Your mom (and wife) was always so kind and generous. She had a quiet wisdom, and the love I saw her give her children was one that supported but didn't seek to control. I can picture some of her expressions and the question "what are they up to now" look. There have been times over the years when I have thought of her and wondered how she ever did it,raising 7 children. (God blessed me with five children,one daughter and 4 sons. And I know now, because she loved God, and knew that it was the plan for her life. I pray you will remember everything about her and that you will be comforted. My life has been blessed by having known her.

My deepest condolences to your family. I had the privilege of knowing Alice and she was a gem.
She was honest, accepting, non-judgemental and a truly great lady. She bore her illness with dignity and did not waste one minute feeling sorry for herself. I had nothing but respect for her. May it comfort you to know that she is with our heavenly Father.
