AMELIA A. EMERY, 59, of L’Anse, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2004 at Baraga Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born in L’Anse, MI. on April 19, 1945 daughter of the late Samuel and Jeanette (Monguse) Maki. Am Read Obituary
Millie was a special lady. I learned a lot just being around her. She was funny! I used to like to sit and listen to her stories about the old times when her and Jim were young. She was strong! Even when she wasn't feeling that great she always had time to talk. And she was nice to everyone. I miss her a lot, and I'm not alone when I say that. She touched a lot of people's lives and she is at peace now.

I am shocked and saddened to hear of your Mom's passing. She was always such a nice lady and raised her children well. It is unfair that you would lose your mom and dad while they were still so young. Be strong. My have my deepest sympathy.

I was honored to have worked 11 years with Millie, by my side. Millie had a knack for working with our young children. She had the MOST patience of anyone I know. She never had a bad thing to say about anybody. She was always willing to give anything a try in the classroom! Her and I, (I mean the children), always had a FUN time in our MESSY room! She always had that comforting smile on her. We even got her to cross country ski at age 50! Those times will always be remembered, along with many more. Millie had the most years of service with the Head Start agency at ITC of Michigan. She will be an "Honorary Head Start Nokomis(Grandma)", forever. I will always remember the lessons, stories, and kind words she always had to say.
