ASTA V. HEIKKINEN's Obituary
ASTA V. HEIKKINEN, 92, of Baraga, passed away Monday evening January 23, 2012 at Bayside Village, L’Anse. She had been a resident there for over a year. Asta was born in Elo, MI on July 19, 1919 the daughter of the late Henry and Lempi Miller. She attended school in Elo. Asta married Edward Heikkinen. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Heikkinen is survived by her children Patricia, Floyd, Nancy, Ruth, Joyce, and Paul 19 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
Funeral services for Mrs. Heikkinen were held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2012 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Pastor Judy Mattson officiating. Spring interment will take place in the Pelkie Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral chapel on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Following the funeral service, the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon in the Harrington Gathering Room, located at the funeral chapel.
