DOANE A. SAUVOLA's Obituary
DOANE A. SAUVOLA, 73, of Baraga, MI., passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2012 surrounded by her loving family at her daughter’s home in L’Anse. She was born in L’Anse, MI. on September 9, 1939 the daughter of the late Albert and Verna (Hebert) Ellenich. Doane attended school in Baraga. She married Philip “Flapper” Sauvola at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Baraga on December 1, 1962. Doane had worked as a cook for various restaurants in the area. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Baraga, the Baraga Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and former member of the Baraga Bowling League. Doane loved spending time with her family, shopping, and was an excellent cook.
Mrs. Sauvola is survived by her husband Philip “Flapper” of Baraga, children Rick (Annette) Sauvola of Pardeville, WI, Dale (Tammy Moilanen) Sauvola of Baraga, and Stacy (Ryan) Tikkanen of L’Anse, grandchildren Cassie (Jeff), Amanda (Mike), Zack, Kaitlin, Brittany, Madisson, Kimberly, Max, and Brayden, great grandchildren Morgan, Peyton, Taylor, and Lyndsey, brother Albert “Sonny” (Margaret) Ellenich of Baraga, sister Marcy (Frank) Supanich of L’Anse, and former daughter-in-law Julie Sauvola. Numerous nieces, nephews and other family members also survive. She was preceded in death by her daughter Kim in 1992.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sauvola were held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, December 28, 2012 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Father John Longbucco officiating. The family greeted friends at the funeral chapel on Friday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Following the funeral service the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon in the Harrington Gathering Room, located at the funeral chapel. Spring interment will take place in the Baraga Cemetery.
