DONALD R. DENOMME's Obituary
DONALD R. DENOMME, age 96, of L’Anse, MI, passed away Friday, April 20, 2012 at Houghton County Medical Care Facility, Hancock, MI. where he had been a patient for 3 years. He was born in L’Anse, MI on July 11, 1915 the son of the late Daniel and Mary (St Onge) Denomme. Don graduated from L’Anse High School in 1933. He attended 1 year of college. Donald worked as a mechanic for the Ford Garage, and the Baraga County Garage. He married the former Clarice Velmer in Pequaming, MI on July 25, 1936. She preceded him in death on August 11, 2000. Donald was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse. He had coached and played baseball, enjoyed hunting and gardening and loved bowling.
Mr. Denomme is survived by his children Donald L. of Florida, Raymond “Bud” (Carol) of Atlantic Mine, MI, Richard (Connie) of Northville, MI. and Linda (Roger) Juntunen of Chassell, 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and other family members. He was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m , Tuesday, April 24, 2012 from Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse with Father John Longbucco, celebrant. Interment took place in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The family received friends on Monday, April 23, 2012 from 6 until 8 p.m at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse. A parish prayer service was held Monday evening in the funeral chapel at 7:30 p.m.
