ELIZABETH L. "BETTY" GIDDINGS's Obituary
ELIZABETH L. “BETTY” GIDDINGS, 78, of Baraga passed away Sunday, October 26, 2008 at Marquette General Hospital where she had been a patient for the past 17 days. She was born in L'Anse, MI. on November 4, 1929 the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Ross) Poquette. Betty graduated from L'Anse High School in 1949. On June 13, 1953 she maried Norman Giddings. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, Baraga and Holy Name Society. Betty enjoyed painting ceramics, doing word search and puzzles, playing Keno games and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. She like to go to Bay Cliff and loved to be around people especially her grandchildren. Betty could always be seen “cruising” around in her wheelchair.
Mrs. Giddings is survived by her loving husband, Norman, children, William (Cindy) Giddings of Baraga, Diane Woolford of Escanaba, Pat Chosa of Mohawk and special friend Barb Heard, Sandy (Rod) Haustein of Iron Mountain, Beth Giddings of Menasha, WI, and special friend Jodi Schneider, grandchildren, Shelly, Melissa, Amy, Todd, Angela, Ashley, Lucas, and Kristin, and 13 great grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 from St. Ann's Catholic Church, Baraga with Father George Maki, Celebrant. Interment took place in the Baraga Cemetery. The family received friends on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L'Anse and for 1 hour prior to the Mass at the church on Wednesday. A parish prayer service was held Tuesday evening in the funeral chapel at 7 p.m.
