ELLEN MARIE GIDDINGS's Obituary
ELLEN M. GIDDINGS, 69, of L’Anse, MI. passed away Thursday, April 12, 2007 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital, L’Anse shortly after admittance. She was born in Pequaming, MI. on November 11, 1937 daughter of the late Raymond and Ellen (Haanpaa) Herrala. Ellen Marie graduated from L’Anse High School in 1956. She married Darrell Giddings in Baraga on February 13, 1982. Ellen had worked as a nurse’s aide for Baraga County Memorial Hospital, Portage View Hospital and the former Winklers’s Nursing Home. She had also worked as a telephone operator in her younger years. Ellen enjoyed teaching Sunday school, camping, travel, sewing, knitting, and decorating. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and her dog, “Jet”.
Mrs. Giddings is survived by her loving husband, Darrell, children, Carole Jean (Gerry) Deschaine of L’Anse and Michelle (Stuart) Francois of Marquette, brothers, Richard (Debra) Herrala of Baraga and Bill (Ann) Herrala of Walled Lake, MI., 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 3 stepsons, Michael (Lisa) Giddings of Baraga, Steven (Karen) Giddings of L’Anse and Kenneth (Kerry) Giddings of L’Anse, stepdaughter, Carol (Mike Roth) Perreault of Baraga, 11 step grandchildren and 8 step great grandchildren. She is also survived by an aunt, and several cousins. Ellen Marie was preceded in death by her nephew, Tommy, 1 stepson, Jack, and 1 step granddaughter, Holly.
Funeral services for Mrs. Giddings were held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2007 from United Lutheran Church, L’Anse with Pastor Scott Williams officiating. The family received friends at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of the service. The Reid Funeral Service and Chapel have been entrusted with arrangements.
