ELMA M. HANSEN's Obituary
ELMA M. HANSEN, 91, of Watton, MI. passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital, L'Anse. She had been a patient for one day. Elma was born in Boston Location, MI. on June 2, 1917 the daughter of the late Matt and Ida (Oikarinen) Kemppainen. She moved to Pelkie with her family at the age of 2 and attended the local schools. On September 26, 1937 she married Norman Hansen in Pelkie. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1980. Elma was a member of the Watton Apostolic Church. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Elma enjoyed life and displayed a good sense of humor.
Mrs. Hansen is survived by her loving children, Kenneth (Phyllis) Hansen of Waukasha, WI., Stanley (Karen) Hansen of Watton, and Joanne (Earl) Johnson of Newberry, 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 4 nieces, 2 nephews and several cousins. Her special friend and caregiver, Eleanor Sikkila also survives. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 1 brother.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hansen were held at 12 noon on Saturday, October 25, 2008 from the Watton Apostolic Church, Watton, MI. with Pastor Ken Storm officiating. Interment took place in the Covington Cemetery. The family received friends at the church on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
