Helen A. Younggren's Obituary
Helen A. Younggren, age 76, of Covington, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Marquette General Hospital. She was born in Watton, MI on October 9, 1938 the daughter of the late Sulo and Impi (Sikkila) Virta. Helen graduated from high school in 1956 and then graduated from Northern Michigan University School of Nursing. She married Francis Younggren in Hancock in 1958. Helen had worked for Blue Cross Insurance in Detroit and then was a school bus driver in the Covington area. Since 1958 she was owner/office manager for Younggren Farm & Forest Inc. and Rock River Timber Inc. One of her many talents was running the open cab Slasher and of course with her red lipstick and hard hat on. Helen was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Covington, the Women in Timber Organization and the Covington Museum. She enjoyed tending to her flower beds, especially taking care of her red geraniums, dancing and playing music in their band “The Country Cousins.” Her greatest love was her family and she was the family “Nurse” for everyone. Helen couldn’t go anywhere without running into some one she knew. She was always taking pictures, usually of flowers and family gatherings. Her smiling face and trademark red lipstick will be missed by everyone.
Mrs. Younggren is survived by her loving husband Francis, children Paul (Donna) Younggren of Watton, Dan (Rose) Younggren of Covington, Greg (Cindy) Younggren of Covington and Kathleen (Harry) Miron of Covington, grandchildren Jason, Jonathan, Michelle, Frankie, Carli, Erin, Tyler, Jack, Jessie, Angie, Jenna, Max and Raymond, great grandchildren Summer, Jackson, Trevor, Addison, Brady, Harmony, Lily, David, Iylah and Gunnar, brother Bill (Norma) Virta of Trout Creek, and sister-in-law Lila Virta of Florida.
