Joseph E Waisanen's Obituary
Joseph E. “Joe” Waisanen, age 33, of L’Anse passed away March 21, 2016. He was born in Bellflower, California on March 10, 1983 the son of John and Debra (Heard) Waisanen. Joseph and his family moved to the area in 1989 and he graduated from L’Anse High School in 2001. Following graduation, he joined the United States Army and served in Iraq and Afghanistan. Joseph had worked at Collins Lumber as a custodian and had recently been taking classes at the Ojibwa Community College. He enjoyed playing games on the computer, reading, landscaping, and helping others.
Joseph is survived by his loving mother Debra Darkfyre of L’Anse, father John Waisanen of L’Anse, brother Justin Waisanen of Fort Carson, Colorado, sister Carrie Waisanen of Columbus, Colorado, nephews Joshua and Thomas Waisanen of Baraga and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and his uncle Mark Heard.
Military honors, under the direction of the Baraga American Legion Post #444 will be conducted at 1:30 pm. Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse.
In lieu of flowers and in honor of Joseph, memorials may be directed to Baraga County Search and Rescue. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
